SUMMARY ON ARTICLE
The article that I have chose is of Jamie Oliver and the campaign of healthy school diners.

This article is about the school diners being all junk food and not much healthy food such as salads and fruit. It explains how it took a celebrity chef to get the government to do something because of a documentary seen by millions of viewers and loads of petitions signed to back Jamie Oliver by angry parents.

MY VIEW ON THE ARTICLE!!!
I agree with Jamie Oliver needs to do something about the healthy food however that isn’t going to stop children and parents from feeding their children pounds of fat and unhealthy food. The reason I say this is because if they don’t get it in school then they can just get snacks such as chocolate and crisps plus children’s favourite fizzy drinks such as coca cola and Pepsi.

I don’t mind eating fruits because they are my favourite and now and then some junk food is fine in schools because children need warm food to concentrate in lessons so it does have benefits. Banning junk food in schools is not the only answer. To make children more healthy, more things can be done so more children feel like exercising. Exercising reduces cholesterol and can keep the heart healthy, it can also tackle obesity and so exercise needs to be more common so children feel like they want to exercise and not have to.

Over the years there have been more junk food/ fast food restaurants opening, encouraging the public to come to them to eat. Nearly in every area there is at least 2 fast food shops so the public can get some warm food for their hunger. Mc Donald’s restaurants and Kentucky fried chicken (KFC) are becoming more popular and easily assessable. I not saying that junk food should not be sold but the amount eaten should be noted and the amount of exercise a person does should be taken into consideration.

Finally, I think the public is going to choose food such as burgers, chips and rolls rather than salads not just because they taste better and they are easily made and easily assessable but because they are CHEAPER (sometimes) than junk food. Take McDonalds for example, they sell all theses salads and rolls such as the deli which doesn’t have many fat in it but it’s expensive compared to other foods with much more fat. Examples are chicken mayo burger, cheese burger and some of the foods in the pound saver menu such as the junior chicken mayo burger. The public will be attracted to buy the cheaper food than the expensive food and so Jamie Oliver’s time is being wasted on children eating.

Kentucky fried chicken (KFC) is also encouraging the public to come to them. The are attracted by the mini fillets and the new zinger mini filler plus the new zinger chicken leg for ONLY 50p. This would bring more and more customers to them for the cheap food. Chicken cottage are also guilty for supplying cheap food to the public. They give more chips than any other fast food store for only around 75p and the other food such as the burgers are also cheaper.
